Frequently asked questions
Answers about donations, animals in need and volunteering
How can I donate to Stichting Animal Protect?
You donate through our donation page. Choose your amount and whether you want to give once or every month. You can pay safely by credit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay via Stripe; monthly gifts also by SEPA Direct Debit.
What happens to my donation?
Your donation goes straight to emergency help for animals in need: consultations, medication, transport, shelter and recovery. Our transparency page and recovery stories show what happens with donations.
Are my donations tax-deductible?
Our ANBI status has been applied for but has not been granted yet. Once the Dutch tax authority grants ANBI, donations may be deductible under conditions and we will report that here. In the meantime, always keep your donation receipt.
How do I become a volunteer?
You can sign up through our volunteer form. We have different roles, from work you can do at home to help at shelter locations. Contact us to discuss the possibilities.
How do you decide which animals get help?
Reports come from veterinarians, shelters and concerned members of the public. Every report is checked for urgency and authenticity before we start helping.
Can I report an animal in need myself?
Yes. If you see an animal in need, report it through our contact form. We ask for photos, a description of the situation and the contact details of the vet or shelter involved.
What costs does the foundation itself have?
We aim for minimal overhead. Our costs consist mainly of payment processing fees, website maintenance and legal obligations. You will find more detail on our transparency page.
Can I adopt an animal?
Some animals become available for adoption once they have recovered. Contact us if you are interested in a specific animal.
Do you work with other organisations?
Yes. We work with veterinarians, shelters and other animal welfare organisations across the Netherlands. Together we are stronger for animals in need.
How do I stay up to date on new cases?
Sign up for our newsletter or follow us on social media. There we share recovery stories and updates about our work.
